Beyond the Newsroom: Journalism in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the way news is gathered, verified, produced and consumed. From automated reporting and AI-assisted research to synthetic images, deepfakes and algorithm-driven news feeds, technologies that once seemed distant are becoming part of the everyday newsroom.
But what happens to journalism when machines can write a story in seconds, generate convincing images, summarise vast amounts of information and increasingly shape what audiences see and believe? What does AI mean for journalists, editors and media organisations? And where should we draw the line between using AI as a powerful tool and allowing it to undermine the principles of journalism?
This conversation will explore the changing relationship between journalism and artificial intelligence, examining questions of accuracy, verification, authorship, ethics, misinformation, newsroom jobs, editorial responsibility and public trust.
