The Holy Quran and Science: Knowledge, Scripture and the Theory of Evolution
The theory of evolution remains a subject of considerable debate in our society, where it is often perceived as being in direct conflict with the teachings of the Holy Quran. But is this perceived conflict inevitable? Do the Quranic verses commonly cited in discussions of human origins necessarily contradict the scientific understanding of evolution, or is there room for a more nuanced examination?
Can scientific inquiry and religious interpretation engage in a meaningful dialogue? How should we approach apparent contradictions between scientific explanations and religious beliefs? And what role do interpretation, context and critical thinking play in understanding both science and scripture?
